We found out at our 20 week appointment that Alyssa had Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21). We were referred to Columbia, MO for additional testing. At one of these appointments, we found out that Alyssa was not growing as she was supposed to. The doctor told us that she had less than a 10% survival, inside or outside of the womb.
We felt that Alyssa's life was important and that she was a blessing. We believed that God would do great things through her. We still hold on to this belief.
Alyssa was born 8/31/09 at 3:16 pm after an emergency c-section at 29 weeks. She lived for 11 days, but in that amount of time, her life inspired prayers from people all around the world. After her death, we wanted a way to remember and honor her, but also to show people God's love and provision. We started the foundation in February of 2010, working with the same hospital she was born at.
Our mission comes out of our experience: to help others and remind them of God's love. Over the last decade, we have helped hundreds of families in several states. It is our goal to continue to do this for as long as we are able to.
